Cypress is now offering its EZ-USB FX2LP(TM) controller in a 56-ball VFBGA (Very Fine Pitch Ball Grid Array) package that measures only 5 mm x 5 mm with 0.5-mm ball pitch. Cypress Semiconductor, the market leader in USB, introduced a version of its CY7C67300 EZ-Host(TM) embedded USB host/peripheral controller optimized for automotive applications. The device is compliant with AEC (Automotive Electronics Council) Q100 specifications, offering an operating temperature range from -40 degrees C to 85 degrees C. It is targeted at automotive "infotainment" applications including interfacing MP3 players, mobile handsets and GPS systems with in-vehicle radios and display systems. Cypress recently received certification for Automotive Industry Quality Standard ISO/TS 16949, a standard that ensures the highest levels of quality and reliability throughout the automotive supply chain.

The kit also includes four firmware tutorials as well as a wireless range demo that help users to quickly build familiarity with the features and performance of the radio.

Cypress Semiconductor introduced the first products in a family of non-volatile SRAMs (nvSRAMs) that internally store data when power is lost, with no battery required. The elimination of the external battery enables Cypress to deliver the RoHS-compliant, high-speed devices in smaller packages than alternative solutions. The nvSRAMs are ideal for any application requiring continuous high-speed writing of data and absolute non-volatile data security, such as RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) applications, copiers, PoS terminals, handheld meters, and consumer electronics products.

The new MoBL-USB FX2LP18™ controller delivers lightning-fast downloads of music files, photos and videos in mobile handsets. Without high-speed USB, it can take up to 30 to 40 seconds to download a typical music file; with the new Cypress solution, that same download takes about two to three seconds, depending on the cell phone architecture.
