  • NEC Electronics America Launches 16-bit All Flash Microcontroller Series for Consumer Electronics, Household Appliance and Industrial Systems Markets
    NEC Electronics announced a new line of 16-bit All Flash(TM) microcontrollers (MCUs), the 78K0R series, that offers best-in-class low power consumption of 1.8 milliwatts per million instructions per second (mW/MIPS) and six times the power/performance ratio of NEC Electronics' 8-bit 78K0 MCUs. Consisting of 30 devices in packages with pins ranging from 64 to 100, and flash memory configurations ranging from 64 to 256 kilobytes (KB), the series provides engineers with an extensive variety of design options.
  • NEC Electronics (Europe) GmbH Licenses SMSC's MediaLB Technology
    SMSC (Nasdaq: SMSC) and NEC Electronics (Europe) GmbH today announced that they have reached a licensing agreement enabling NEC Electronics (Europe) GmbH to enrich its automotive product portfolio with gateway and audio solutions that connect with the MediaLB interface. First silicon for development and prototyping will be available in the fourth quarter of calendar 2006.
  • NEC Electronics and Microsoft Announce Industry's First Demonstration of Microsoft Driver for Certified Wireless USB Host
    NEC Electronics, a leading provider of advanced interface technologies, and Microsoft announced the industry's first demonstration of Microsoft's driver for Certified Wireless Universal Serial Bus (USB) on NEC Electronics' dedicated real-chip solution, at the 2006 Microsoft Windows Hardware Engineering Conference (WinHEC). The demonstration features Microsoft's Certified Wireless USB host controller driver for Microsoft(R) Windows(R) XP that incorporates NEC Electronics' host controller. The demonstration will showcase wireless connectivity for a mass storage-class device prototype and illustrate this process, including the enumeration, loading the Microsoft driver and viewing the contents of the device.
